designing advice

some of my personal favourite by Andrew S. Tanenbaum, "Modern Operating Systems".

  1. Adding manpower to a late software project makes it later. (pg 891)

  2. It takes 9 months to bear a child, no matter how many women you assign to the job. (pg 891)

  3. Perfection is reach not when there is no longer anything to add, but when there is no longer anything to take away. (pg 859)

  4. Everything should be as simple as possible, but not simpler. (pg 860)
